UV Mapping Workflows in Modo
Bring your UV mapping skills up-to-date
This training is an updated look at UV mapping in Modo, and builds on my previous UV mapping training by covering new subject matter and more up-to-date workflows. As well as conventional UV mapping techniques, this training will introduce and thoroughly explain the concept of texel density, which allows for uniform coverage over a model or an entire scene.
Following on from a couple of foundational videos explaining the concept, the training will demonstrate step-by-step how to approach applying a uniform density and how to solve common problems you are likely to encounter when using this approach.
UDIMs can also be used in conjunction with texel density and this is clearly explained and demonstrated in the training.
Additionally the training includes a step-by-step demonstration of UV mapping the entire motorbike from the Vintage Motorcycle Modelling video, so it is extremely detailed and covers a wide variety of hard surface assets. This means that you will learn to solve many real-world problems, enabling you to face any UV mapping task with confidence.
As well as UV mapping traditional meshes, the training will demonstrate how to UV map Mesh Fusion meshes and procedural meshes, without needing to convert them, meaning that you can work procedurally when you need to.
Many people find UV mapping daunting, but Modo's excellent toolset means that artists armed with the right knowledge can quickly unwrap meshes of any complexity quickly, in fact UV mapping in Modo is quite easy once you are familiar with the tools.
This training builds on my previous Strategies For UV Mapping in Modo training (which still serves as a good foundation) by bringing it up to date and covering new workflows. Even experienced users should pick up new information from this training.
